The main objective of this class is to understand the process of creating a stylized character, and to have a finished stylized character at the end of the course. Students will start out by gathering their favorite concepts then laying down a foundation with fundamentals of the form. Students will go from primary forms to secondary forms which really boils down what it takes to make a stylized character.
This course is all about creating robust engine agnostic rigs. We will tackle thinking in components, as well as the possibilities of scripting to improve and automate workflow. We will also focus on the ability to reverse engineer existing rigs and being able to debug/anticipate problems.
In this course you will learn to approach 3D game level environments from a design perspective. The lectures will explore theory of games, shape composition, architecture, and player psychology. You will design and iterate on level setups from the initial planning phases to playable prototypes in Unity. This course has been designed to learn in-depth techniques for modeling, texturing and rendering a cutting edge real-time character. The class will work similarly to a live mentorship, as students approach the creation of AAA game characters for their portfolios. Students should expect to cover for head and hair, costume elements, low poly UV’s and processing required to get the asset real-time ready, and finishing with material and texture
Students are introduced to the Maya interface and philosophy, as well as 3D modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering, and animation. Lectures cover the application of these tools in the VFX, game, and animation industries. Students will work on multiple projects throughout the course.
