Named for Count Ferdinand Zeppelin, a pioneer of dirigible design, the LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin was designed to hold a crew of 36, with space for 24 passengers plus freight and airmail. In its nine years of operation, from 1928-1937, it traversed the globe, becoming the first aircraft to log over a million miles.
